Capital Allocation
We allocate capital to companies and projects with a vision for changing and improving an industry or product. We typically invest in younger CEOs and Founders in early-stage rounds. Most investments are with founders who are nice to talk to, are driven in their careers, employ a diverse staff and have a diverse board.
Current Investments
$20MM in funded venture capital to date. All funds are invested in venture rounds (Seed capital , Safe, Series A, B, C) and other pre-IPO rounds. We invest in companies with a strong CEO, usually under 45, surrounded by an experienced advisor, management team, and board, tied to a lead investor with a proven track record of exits.
Principals of Monterey Capital
Monterey Capital is a family venture capital office that invests our own money; not a fund deploying capital on behalf of other investors. This allows for fast review and investment of capital. There's no board or committee approval necessary. Our two offices are split between business development in San Diego and administration in Oklahoma City.

We carry you for 10% of the equity we purchase on exit (after principal and preferred return) if you bring us a venture-round opportunity. Example (without calculating for dilution, pref return, etc): You bring us a pitch deck for ABC Company, and we invest $1M in a Series B round at a $100MM valuation. If that company sells or IPO's for $1B, your 10% bounty is $900,000.00.
